The Largest....

Painting large pieces can be both intriguing and intimidating at the same time - exhilarating but terrifying. I purchased three 30x40 canvases this week with the intent to complete one for a living room painting commission. This will be the first time using my current abstract style on such a large scale, unsure how the shapes, lines and strokes would translate to a larger format. After nearly six or seven sessions, layering many different marks, the painting began to take shape. The client specifically wanted a piece to match her new living room rug which included cream, black, grey, mahogany, beige and marigold. I added gold leaf in places for an added shine and 'pop' of richness. I hope this will be the beginning of creating more larger scale pieces. Here is a sneak peak of just a snippet of this large painting.
